About Mei-Lin
Mei-Lin Chen founded The Calorie Tracker Guide in 2024 after six years as a data journalist covering consumer health technology across Asia. She holds an MS in Nutrition Science and built the publication around a simple frustration: app store ratings tell you almost nothing about whether a calorie tracker is actually accurate.
Mei-Lin designed the 2026 AI Calorie Tracker Index and personally curated the 8,500-meal and food-photo dataset that underpins it, from single-ingredient reference foods to mixed restaurant plates and unlabeled home cooking. She owns the final scoring sign-off for every ranked app.
She has tested more than 40 nutrition apps and writes most of the publication’s head-to-head comparisons. Mei-Lin is particularly focused on how well apps handle East Asian, mixed, and regional dishes rather than only Western packaged foods.
